Tailor / Sewer / Sample Maker — All Levels

Location: Syosset, New York

Job Type: Contract / Part-Time

Pay: $18–$30/hour, based on experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, flexible hours

A high-end menswear brand based in New York is seeking both experienced and developing tailors/

sewers to join our workshop. We focus on precision tailoring, refined construction, and timeless garments

crafted from exceptional materials.

We are looking for individuals who are detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of executing work to a high standard — either independently or with guidance, depending on experience level.

Role Overview

Candidates will be considered across two levels based on experience, skill, and ability to execute with minimal instruction.

Senior Tailor / Sample Maker — $22–$30/hour

* Construct tailored garments independently from start to finish, including jackets, trousers, and shirts

* Execute high-end hand tailoring and fine hand finishes

* Perform advanced handwork, including pad stitching, felling, fine finishing, and hand-sewn buttonholes

* Understand and interpret patterns, with the ability to make adjustments as needed

* Collaborate closely with the designer on sample development

* Maintain full control over construction quality, fit, proportion, and finishing

Sewer / Junior Tailor — $18–$24/hour

* Construct garment components and complete pieces based on provided samples, instructions, and

references

* Follow construction direction accurately while maintaining clean, consistent execution

* Work independently once instructions are given, without requiring constant supervision

* Perform precise machine and hand sewing, and assist with finishing work

* Support overall production flow with reliability and attention to detail

Requirements
For Senior Candidates:

* Proven experience in luxury or high-end menswear tailoring

* Ability to complete tailored garments independently

* Strong hand-sewing and machine-sewing skills at a high precision level

* Experience with fine fabrics and traditional tailoring techniques

For Junior Candidates:

* Solid sewing fundamentals, through school, personal, or professional experience

* Ability to sew with high precision

* Ability to follow instructions and replicate work from samples independently

* Strong attention to detail and consistency

* Willingness to learn and improve within a structured workflow

Language Requirement — All Candidates

* Basic conversational English required for daily communication and work instructions

* Must be able to understand directions, ask questions, and communicate clearly about sewing tasks, fit, and construction details
