Clarksburg, MD, has seen rapid growth over the past 20 years, outpacing the development of essential infrastructure and community spaces. This has led to a lack of local amenities such as restaurants, libraries, entertainment, and meeting spaces, requiring residents to leave the area to find community. The Clarksburg Yard has been developed in response to these social needs. It is be a placemaking space featuring a coffee bar, outdoor green space, and multigenerational activities. In the meantime, the first step is creating social engagement opportunities through events.
