What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Controller position at The Clark Agency Recruiters?
Corporate Controller
Beverage Manufacturing (Private Equity-Backed)
$140,000 - $160,000 base salary, profit sharing, full benefits and 401K program
Remote Role w/ Occasional Travel
We are proud to partner exclusively with this fast-scaling, private-equity-owned beverage co-packing manufacturer to recruit their first Controller. Our client is currently at ~$35M in revenue and on a clear trajectory to reach $100M by the end of 2027. They are not looking for a traditional controller-type hire. This is a hands-on, heavy-lift role for an ambitious finance professional ready to build the accounting and finance function from the ground up.
You’ll work directly with the CFO and private equity partners to establish processes where none exist, implement a new ERP system, and play a pivotal role in scaling the business. This is not a 40-hour-a-week position - it’s built for someone hungry to roll up their sleeves, make a significant impact, and accelerate their career in a high-growth environment.
Why This Role Stands Out
- High visibility: Direct exposure to the CFO, executive leadership, and PE stakeholders
- Rapid career growth: Clear path to build and lead a team as the company scales
- Tangible impact: Your work will directly shape financial operations and strategy during explosive growth
- Entrepreneurial culture: Lean, fast-paced, and proud of its “smart, not flashy” approach
Who We’re Looking For
We succeed with professionals who:
- Solve problems creatively with limited resources - thought leadership over capital spend
- Move fast, communicate proactively, and treat hard work as a moral imperative
- Stay focused and disciplined, even while working independently
- Embrace a servant-leadership mindset and understand that everyone sells (customer-facing presence is important)
- If you thrive in ambiguity, enjoy building systems and processes, and want to grow dramatically with a winning company, this is an exceptional opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Own core accounting operations: AR/AP, payroll & benefits, month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Deliver insightful monthly reporting and Board packages; translate financial results into actionable business narratives
- Manage cash flow through rolling forecasts and daily oversight
- Support commercial pricing development and supplier cost optimization
- Lead year-end audit preparation and execution
- Handle bank compliance and excise tax reporting
- Play a key role in implementing a new inventory/ERP system and supporting processes
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc operational finance initiatives
- Establish strong internal controls and safeguard company assets
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA strongly preferred)
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing/distribution experience a plus
- Audit firm background strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills; QuickBooks Online experience a plus
- Proven ability to work independently in a fast-changing, high-growth environment
- Strong communicator who can present financial insights clearly to non-finance leaders
As a long-term recruiting partner to this organization, we’ve seen firsthand their trajectory and culture. We’re excited to help them find the right person to grow with the company.
If you’re an ambitious, intellectually curious accounting leader ready for a significant career leap, we’d love to connect.
