York College’s Center for Teaching, Learning and Educational Technologies (CTLET) is committed to inspiring, promoting and supporting teaching and learning that is effective, engaging and rewarding. We are seeking an IT Academic Technology Manager to further this mission as an LMS and Educational Technologies Administrator.

The IT Academic Technology Manager reports to the CTLET Director whose oversight ensures that work aligns with CUNY and York College policies and priorities and effectively supports engaging and rewarding teaching and learning practices.

Duties and responsibilities of the position will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage the LMS—currently Blackboard and Brightspace—and integrated technologies such as LinkedIn Learning and Simple Syllabus; Troubleshoot technical issues, identify and implement improvements.
  • Ensure that utilization of technologies aligns with effective, engaging and rewarding teaching and learning practices.
  • Assess the shifting needs of teachers and learners and propose, test and evaluate promising educational technologies.
  • Provide training and support to faculty, students and staff to make the best use of available educational technologies.
  • Provide stakeholders with timely reports and performance measures to inform decisions.Assist stakeholders in implementing analytics-driven content improvements.
  • Research and oversee website enhancements, continuously recommending improvements based on best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Manages tools to support enhancement requests.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the LMS, its capabilities and requirements and can offer insights into features that can enhance the user experience.
  • Proficient in working with various software applications that can be integrated in the LMS.
  • Experience with effective practices in teaching and learning acquired through designing or teaching courses with educational technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong managerial skills.

  • Assures successful adaptation of new academic systems within the existing College environment

  • Recommends and acquires technology upgrades and improvements
  • Serves as project manager for the introduction of new technology and equipment
  • Manages day-to-day operations, overseeing assigned staff
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
