In addition, its neighborhood is at the center of a renaissance fueled by economic revitalization.

The College seeks a highly motivated, collaborative, and experienced individual who will provide outstanding leadership for Sponsored Programs and Research. The Director of Sponsored Programs and Research provides vision, guidance, coordination, and oversight for the College’s efforts to apply for and administer grants, contracts, and awards, with particular emphasis in the applied social sciences, business, and public affairs.
This position reports to the Provost for Academic Affairs.
The duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required, as well as a thorough knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements and grant and contract management.
Master’s degree in a relevant area is strongly preferred. Mastery of computer applications and web based tools; excellent written and oral communication skills; knowledge of federal and CUNY regulations governing research activities.

The duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:
- Managing, promoting, advocating for, and providing guidance for faculty and student research, and institutional grants with emphasis on successful applications for awards, grants, and contracts.
- Identifying and cultivating cross- and inter-disciplinary areas of faculty research synergy appropriate for the pursuit of external funding from federal, state, and local sources.
- Researching and communicating information through multiple modalities (in-person, e-mail, online, etc.) on funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations.
- Keeping abreast of national and international policies, trends, and best practices in sponsored research to provide expert consultation with institutional leadership, researchers, students, and other research stakeholders on complex research issues.
- Cultivating collaborative alliances with the College Office of Development, community partners, and cognate area colleges and universities.
- Working in close collaboration with College personnel and administration, the CUNY Research Foundation, and the CUNY Office of Sponsored Research, in the areas of research development and enhancement of faculty scholarship.
- Closely collaborate with the Provost to strategically plan short- and long-term research program priorities and faculty professional development.
- Providing leadership and management for the professional staff in the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research.
- Develop and/or oversee systems to track and report activity, results, and data in Sponsored Programs and Research.
- Providing technical assistance in proposal development and grant writing, including budgeting, staffing, space and facilities requirements, etc.
- Help identify research collaboration opportunities between faculty and industry.
- Overseeing College recoveries of indirect costs.
