General Description:
The purpose of this class within the organization is to provide professional customer service to customers regarding housing programs. This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. Requires two years of general clerical work in an office environment or closely related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of business English; knowledge in Spanish preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to type 40 wpm with accuracy and meet the appropriate clerical testing standards.
- Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines.
- Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.
- Work is performed onsite. The incumbent must be present at work to perform the essential functions of this job.
Essential Job Functions:
- Greets and welcomes incoming visitors and clients.
- Answers and routes incoming calls and emails.
- Directs customer inquiries, requests, and complaints to appropriate staff member, person, or agency.
- Assists with maintaining and updating applicant files and computer database with documents provided.
- Prepares and sends correspondence associated with applications process.
- Accepts and distributes incoming mail and faxes.
- Assists with data entry of applications to Waiting List(s).
- Receives, logs and processes incoming documents requested.
- Assists with application intake and briefings.
- Assists with interviewing applicants to determine eligibility for housing programs.
- Attends meetings and trainings.
- Performs general administrative support and clerical duties including filing, copying, faxing and mailings.
- Operates various office equipment.
- Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs
