Plant Supervisor/Operator

The City of Lampasas is currently accepting applications for a Plant Supervisor/Operator. Please note that this is not an entry level position.

Summary of Position

Directs work and supervises wastewater treatment and water operations personnel in maintaining city wastewater treatment and water operations facilities in good working condition; and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

Salary range is $26.569/hour to 37.196/hour, DOQ, plus excellent benefits.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: methods, practices, and equipment used in water distribution and water/wastewater treatment and collection facilities; departmental policies and procedures; laboratory testing and procedures; and the safe operation of heavy equipment and of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code relating to the operation of such motorized equipment.

Skill/Ability to: supervise and motivate employees; learn and comply with state and federal regulations applicable to water/wastewater treatment facilities; prepare concise and accurate reports; perform simple mathematical calculations; give, understand, and follow instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers; demonstrate proficiency in oral and/or written communication; tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions; and maintain appropriate necessary certifications.

Acceptable Experience and Training

o High school graduation, or its equivalent, plus 5 years of experience in water/wastewater operations, including supervisory and/or managerial experience; an associate’s degree in a related field is desirable;
o or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certificates and Licenses Required

o Valid Texas drivers’ license with ability to obtain a Valid Class B Texas commercial drivers’ license within 6 months of hire
o Class B Wastewater Operators license
o Class C Water Distribution license with ability to obtain Class B Distribution License within 6 months
