The City of Lampasas is currently accepting applications for the position of Animal Shelter Technician.
Summary of Position
The Animal Shelter Technician performs all daily activities in the impoundment, care, feeding, and cleaning of the animals impounded and surrendered to the Lampasas Animal Shelter. Responds to citizen questions and reports of lost and missing animals; enforces state laws, City and County ordinances pertaining to animal control; and houses and cares for all rabies quarantines.
Salary range is $15.49, DOQ, plus excellent benefits.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: local and state laws, regulations, and ordinances as they pertain to animal control; animal behavior; animal health; animal disease management; basic animal care and identification of various animal species; computers; and standard office practices and procedures.
Skill/Ability to: establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public; communicate effectively; operate a computer; perform multiple tasks simultaneously; work effectively under emergency and high stress conditions; read and understand manuals, policies, and other documents; handle animals safely and effectively; properly administers vaccinations, perform health exams and humane euthanasia; clean kennels and other areas of the shelter; and work with limited Supervision.
Acceptable Experience and Training
o High school graduation, or its equivalent;
o or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certificates and Licenses Required
o Must be able to obtain Basic Animal Control Officer certification within a given period of time and obtain 30 hours of Continuing Education every three years to maintain this certification;
o Valid Texas drivers’ license
