What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Parking position at The City of Frederick?
JOB This is manual work in the City's Municipal Parking Garages. An employee in this class, under direct supervision of the Superintendent of Public Parking, patrols all of the garages in the City providing security presence during the week-end night hours. This position is considered "essential personnel", and will be required to be able to respond to emergencies as needed. This position is primarily evenings and weekends.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Picks up City truck from assigned parking deck and begins patrol of all the City decks. Drives the truck throughout the decks, checking in every hour, by hand-held radio, with the City Switchboard. Employee gets out of truck and walks parts of the decks, such as stairwells and looks for people loitering about. Employee has authority to ask the people to leave or call the police if needed.
- Provides assistance to customers who have parked in the deck, such as helping them get out of deck or giving directions.
- Provides minor repair to money machines and other equipment.
- Operates a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices on a regular basis.
- At times, employee will be required to place "No Parking" signs on surrounding streets in accordance with the Parking Department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
