Workdays & Hours: Field Operations is a 24/7 Operation - weekend work may be required. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies which will be subject to work after hours, emergency call back hours, nights, weekends, holidays and will participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

The City of Fort Worth Water Department / Field Operations Division is seeking highly motivated, service-focused individuals to join our team as a Senior Water Dispatch Representatives. This is a vital role within the largest and most dynamic division of the Water Department, supporting the operation, maintenance, and emergency response of our water and wastewater systems.

Our Field Operations Division runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and plays a critical role in maintaining the city's infrastructure and delivering essential services to our community. As a Senior Water Dispatch Representative, you'll be at the heart of that mission—ensuring timely communication and support for field crews and responding to the needs of Fort Worth residents.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • Minimum of three (3) years of directly related customer service or dispatch experience
  • Ability to work any and all assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Assigned shifts are subject to change to support the operational need

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with two-way radio communications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills
  • Previous experience working with busy, 24/7 dispatching operations
  • Previous experience working with large utility
  • Previous experience working with Utility locate operations. (Texas811, LoneStar811, Korea)

The Senior Water Dispatch job responsibilities include:

  • Lead, plan, train, review, and participate in the work of dispatch and customer service staff supporting departmental operations
  • Receive, validate, and prioritize emergency and routine service calls from internal and external sources
  • Verify service locations using MRC and Mapsco and dispatch appropriate field crews via two-way radio in a timely manner
  • Monitor emergency call queues and coordinate rapid response to service disruptions
  • Create, manage, and track work orders for crews, supervisors, and other departments using the MAXIMO work management system
  • Accurately enter, retrieve, and maintain work order and service data in Excel spreadsheets and departmental records
  • Provide after-hours emergency dispatch support for internal and external departments
  • Communicate with on-call supervisors and coordinate resources as needed
  • Maintain detailed daily call logs, operational records, and dispatch activity documentation
  • Request and manage utility locate services to ensure crew safety and protect underground infrastructure
  • Control and document crew access to city resources, including logging key check-ins and check-outs
  • Perform general clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and preparing correspondence
  • Support team operations through effective communication and coordination with field staff and other departments
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new dispatch personnel

Working Conditions and Physical Demand:

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing and balancing.

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
