Our P&C Accounting department seeks a senior accountant. This role is responsible for leading the preparation of quarterly financial statements on both a Statutory and GAAP basis. This role will also review and approve a variety of filings, reports, journal entries and payments, working closely with IT to manage large, detailed monthly processes and various accounting projects. Qualified candidates must have strong Microsoft® Excel skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This position offers excellent opportunity for career growth and advancement.

The pay range for the accountant position is $85,000 - $110,000 annually. The position and pay determination are based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

Be Ready To

  • lead and review financial statement preparation and analysis of a property and casualty company, including the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow
  • lead the quarterly financial close process, including working closely with IT to manage data collection, allocation processes and results reporting to executive management
  • perform detailed calendar year and accident year analysis of premiums, losses and expenses by line of business to present to management
  • understand and apply STAT and GAAP accounting principles and evaluate the impact of emerging FASB and SSAP changes to our company
  • prepare and review quarterly expense accruals and analysis of expenses
  • prepare and review the quarterly and annual statutory schedules required by the NAIC
  • prepare and review various accounting processes that may include involuntary pool coding, reconciliations and analysis of financials
  • manage processes and review regulatory filings and payments for the states and jurisdictions we are licensed to do business in
  • review and approve general ledger journal entries
  • lead and assist other accounting projects as needed

Be Equipped With

  • above average organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • the ability to work independently under time constraints while recognizing when to ask for assistance
  • a willingness to work beyond normally scheduled work hours as necessary
  • strong attention to detail
  • knowledge of enterprise performance and business intelligence tools

Bring Education And Experience From

  • a bachelor's degree in accounting (required)
  • an active CPA license or progress toward achieving the CPA designation (required)
  • a minimum of three years of accounting experience (five or more years preferred)
  • insurance industry experience
