This senior-level writer and editor plays a pivotal role in shaping how the Savior’s restored Church speaks to God’s children throughout the world. Working on behalf of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this position helps convey messages that reflect the voice, teachings, and mission of Jesus Christ, ensuring all communications are clear, unified, and centered on the Savior and His gospel.
Operating in a fast-paced, high-turnaround, global environment, this role requires seasoned corporate-level experience and the ability to deliver high-quality work under tight timelines. The position leads the development and refinement of executive communications, including thought leadership, position papers, and content that reach audiences worldwide.
As a trusted editorial advisor, this individual works closely with senior Church leaders and cross-functional teams across departments and global areas. They provide strategic guidance on tone, structure, clarity, and doctrinal alignment, translating inspired messages into language that is accessible, welcoming, and relevant across cultures.
This role carries significant influence and responsibility. It establishes and models editorial standards, champions the Church Communication Guide, and ensures that messaging is cohesive, intentional, and reflective of the Savior’s restored gospel. It also mentors writers, strengthens organizational capability, and contributes to communications that help individuals feel seen, understood, and invited to come unto Christ.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior writer and editor for executive-level communications, including articles, position papers, and global digital content.
- Convey messages on behalf of the Savior’s restored Church with clarity, doctrinal accuracy, and spiritual sensitivity.
- Provide strategic editorial leadership to unify messaging across a complex, global organization.
- Collaborate with senior leaders and international teams to develop content in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
- Shape and refine key messaging tools, including executive briefs, message frameworks, and Churchwide communication plans.
- Ensure communications are culturally relevant while remaining consistent with doctrine and prophetic direction.
- Contribute to messaging related to humanitarian efforts, education, public affairs, and global initiatives.
- Train and mentor writers and contributors in writing excellence, editorial standards, and the Church Communication Guide.
- Collaborate with creative, design, and digital teams to deliver cohesive, high-impact content across platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years of experience in strategic communications, senior writing, or editorial leadership roles, preferably within a complex or global organization.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience writing and editing executive-level content, including speeches, articles, and position papers.
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, high-turnaround environments with precision and consistency.
- Exceptional editorial judgment and attention to detail, especially with sensitive or doctrinally nuanced material.
- Deep understanding of and respect for the mission, voice, and doctrine of the Savior’s restored Church.
- Experience developing content for global audiences and adapting messaging across cultures.
- Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling, and spiritually grounded communication.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across departments and with senior leaders.
- Familiarity with branding and messaging within a global organization.
