What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEDICAL ASSISTANT RESIDENT position at The Christ Hospital Health Network?
The Medical Assistant Resident is an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in our outpatient clinical offices, and learn from our primary staff of Medical Assistants, Schedulers, Managers, and Providers. The Medical Assistant Resident will shadow and work with a Medical Assistant to experience the following job responsibilities.
• Patient flow during clinic hours.
• Preparation of patient charts in electronic medical record (EMR) for visits by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing to make certain that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports and other medical records necessary to help the physician care for the patient are in the patients chart
• Measurement of vital signs such as pulse rate, respirations, blood pressure, weight and height.
• EKG's, injections, blood pressures, UA's, and some phlebotomy.
• Accurately record patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR), including but not limited to the following: vitals, past and current medical, social and family history, reviews medications and updates medication list, abstracts new procedures.
• Accesses and navigates websites or calls outside facilities to obtain necessary information.
• Refills medications and pre-authorizes medications including communicating with the patient, pharmacy, or insurance company as needed to complete the task.
• Patient phone calls
• Pharmacy cabinet and recording of patient samples.
• Preparing treatment rooms for examination of patients; maintains clean, fully supplied exam rooms.
• Medical supply ordering as needed.
• Patient assistance paperwork/requests as needed.
