Work Incentive Specialist Advocate
Are you familiar with Social Security and/or Medicaid benefits? Do you have experience working with people with disabilities? The Choice Group is seeking a part-time Disability Benefits Advocate and training will be provided for qualified individual. You will be part of a team that empowers people with disabilities by providing the information and support they need to make informed choices about employment, earnings and financial independence. The Choice Group helps people live up to their abilities and is looking for an individual with human services experience, who is detail oriented and passionate about working with people with disabilities.
You must have a valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, ability to plan your day and good communication skills. Bi-lingual and ASL candidates and are encouraged to apply. A certification as a WISA or CWIC is preferred but not mandatory. If no certification, training to receive certification will be provided.

Under the Work Incentives Specialist Advocacy (WISA) Program, job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Providing benefits planning services for clients being served in any of The Choice Group’s vocational programs
- Providing benefits planning services to clients under the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work (TTW) Program
- Developing, managing, and maintaining ongoing collaborative relationships with DARS and DBVI field offices to maximize the effectiveness of the Work Incentive Specialist Advocacy program and services
- Maintaining proactive communication (written, oral, and electronic) with referral sources, team, and supervisory staff

Education Requirements:
At least a Bachelor degree in a related field (Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Human Services) and 2 years related experience is required, or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.
Preferred but not mandatory: CERTIFICATION ACCEPTABLE TO THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT FOR AGING AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES to provide Work Incentive Specialist Advocate (WISA) services. This position requires a self-starter with computer and time management skills, who can work a flexible schedule. Good driving record and documentation of adequate insurance required. Compensation based on education, skills, and experience.
