Job Summary:
Grill Cook is a part-time position. In this hands-on role, a grill cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of delicious dishes while ensuring the café maintains an inviting and visually appealing atmosphere through attention to detail and cleanliness. Grill cooks will play a vital part in providing exceptional customer service to all visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Customer service: greeting each visitor, offering help, accurately completing register transaction, and suggesting additional items to order.
- Perform food preparation tasks such as making sandwiches, cutting fruit, and making salads. Ability to work grill, fryer, and sandwich station.
- Cook the necessary amount of food for the day. Examples are hamburgers, chicken tenders and corndogs.
- Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces and utensils.
- Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work area.
- Measure portions required for specific food items being prepared.
- Read order slips or receive verbal instruction as to food required by patron and prepare and cook food according to instructions.
- Clean, stock and restock workstations, freezers, and display cases.
- Store unused food properly, including, writing the date and the name of the food being stored.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Uniform: Make sure that you always have a proper uniform. (Hats and hairnets should always be on - no excuses.) Chef Coat is provided.
- Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by supervisor at any time.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Exemplary customer service
- City of Houston Food Managers Permit desired
- Bilingual desired
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience with food preparation
Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent (or currently enrolled).
Physical Demand:
- Lifting Requirement: The job involves lifting objects that weigh more than 5 pounds and up to 25 pounds.
- Frequency: This lifting is done frequently, defined here as more than 40% and up to 70% of the work time.
** Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
