This role is a multi-skilled healthcare professional that provides professional and quality care by following established standards and practices. This role will be an integral part of a care team dedicated to serving our communities families and children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, takes vital signs, and accurately convey information to the provider.
- Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
- Administers injections and/or treatments that have been advised by the provider or licensed nurse.
- Perform blood collection via finger stick, heel stick, and venipuncture on pediatric patients
- Collect urine and stool specimens per established guidelines and patient-education protocols
- Prepare and label specimens for internal testing or transport to external laboratories.
- Perform in-house diagnostic testing, but not limited to: CBC, strep culture, urinalysis, urine culture, RSV, HCG, lipid panel, HbA1c, etc...
- Documents patient data using established medical record forms and accurately documents patient data in the electronic medical record.
- Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Responds to incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
- Ensure patient rooms are stocked, cleaned, orderly, and equipment is functioning properly.
- Ensure compliance with CMC, COLA, OSHA, CLIA, and DHEC standards and participate in audits or inspections as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Position Requirements:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be resourceful and maintain professionalism in stressful environments.
- Extensive knowledge of pediatric vaccine schedule and the SC VFC program.
Licensing/Certification:
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program (required)
- Passing CMA/RMA Certification Exam
- Current CPR/BLS Provider Certificate
- Prior experience in a pediatric or outpatient clinical setting preferred.
Education: High School Diploma
