Pediatrics East Deerfoot - Pinson, AL

Work schedule will be Full-time, Days, 8a - 5p, Mon - Fri, and weekends on a rotation (Sat 8a - 12p, Sun 12:30p - 5p).

Summary:

This position is responsible for patient rooming, administering vaccines and medications, performing diagnostic lab tests, assisting physicians with procedures, and managing clinical triage. The LPN ensures seamless daily clinic flow, maintains strict adherence to safety and privacy protocols, and serves as a direct point of contact for patient education and care coordination.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome and room patients in a timely manner. Obtain accurate vital signs, document patient history and chief complaints in the EMR system. Perform any other procedure necessary to prepare the patient for the physician's examination.
• Administer pediatric vaccines, oral medications, and subcutaneous/intramuscular injections according to state guidelines, CDC schedules, and physician orders.
• Perform routine diagnostic screening tests (e.g., rapid flu, strep, RSV, hemoglobin, lead screening, urine dipsticks) and assist with specimen collection and lab processing.
• Assist pediatricians with minor office procedures, examinations, and specialized developmental screenings.
• Screen incoming patient/parent calls, assess acuity using established clinical protocols, provide basic home-care guidance, and escalate calls appropriately to providers.
• Educate patients, parents and caregivers on post-vaccine care, medication dosages, disease prevention, and developmental milestones as directed by the provider.
• Process prescription refills, communicate lab/test results to parents, and schedule follow-up appointments as directed.
• Maintain vaccine log accuracy, manage cold-chain storage compliance, stock examination rooms; monitor and order clinic supplies, medication, vaccines; monitor expiration dates.
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines, OSHA standards, infection control protocols, and state board nursing practices.
• Perform capillary and venipuncture blood draws, collect urine specimens, oral and nasal swab as required.
• Perform laboratory testing (waived and moderate complexity) with accurate, real-time documentation of the results with in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Conduct audiograms, visual exams.
• Prepare and administer nebulizer treatments as directed by the physician.
• Prepare and submit medical instruments for sterilization according to OSHA and COA protocols.
• Schedule appointments including but not limited to (shot only, lab only, follow-up, and conferences).
• Clean and sanitize exam rooms between patients, order and stock clinical supply as needed to ensure uninterrupted care.
• Other responsibilities as needed.

Other information:
Knowledge of Children's of Alabama's healthcare market preferred. Excellent communication skills.

Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Licensed Practical Nurse AL Only or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
- Licensed Practical Nurse AL NLC Multi State
- Licensed Practical Nurse Non-AL NLC Multi State
* Basic Life Support
Education with Equivalent Qualifications:

• Associate of Science Nursing in Nursing
• 1 Years job experience as in healthcare with specialization in the field of Nursing General
