Currently we are seeking a Full Time Redirection Staff member to join our Grove St Academy Team at The Children's Home of Kingston. The position would be full time 35 hours per week, M-F 8:10am-3:10pm. Retention Bonus after 6 months of continuous employment! Redirection Staff:
- Assists teachers, teaching assistants, and 1:1 aide in providing appropriate levels of supervision for students
- Helps students meet their behavioral goals by monitoring behavior and intervening as appropriate
- Assists students in crisis
- Assists in conflict resolution using appropriate techniques
- Actively participates in and promotes character education
- Communicates with colleagues, supervisors, parents, and residential staff as needed regarding student progress
- Performs other duties as assigned by administration such as breakfast duty, ISS duty, and bus duty
- Reports incidents as needed and in compliance with school protocol
- Implements Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques effectively and consistently
- Participates and promotes the school's Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program
- Attends all trainings and meetings as required by administration.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Possess a valid driver license with a driving record acceptable to CHK's insurance carrier and possess the ability to drive agency vehicles to other agency sites and places for training purposes.
Education, Training, & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
Grove Street Academy (GSA) is a school located on the Children's Home of Kingston campus in Kingston, NY. This school provides necessary educational services to both day treatment and residential students, ages eight to twenty-one, grades 4th through 12th. GSA is an 853 NYSED certified school, specializing in small departmental and self-contained classes, and provides students and their families with a system of interventions and supports that are not available within the public education sectors.
