The Children's Clinic is actively seeking a Qualified or Certified Health Care Interpreter- Spanish to join our team! Candidate must have completed Oregon’s Health Care Interpreter (HCI) Program and be registered with Oregon’s Health Care Interpreter Registry.

You will: Work in partnership with the clinical teams to successfully provide exceptional care to the pediatric population we serve. Your daily responsibilities include providing effective and accurate interpretation communications between clinical team members and patients. You will provide cultural frameworks as necessary to bridge understanding between parties who do not share a common culture and language background.

Essential Functions:
- Answer the telephone professionally and courteously, scheduling patient appointments following procedures for proper timing and routing. Follow established guidelines to route complex messages to medical staff.
- Provide thorough, timely, and accurate interpreting for patients, families, providers, and staff.
- Serve as a resource to patients, families, and staff
- Establish and maintain quality service and positive interaction with patients, families, providers, and staff.
- Explain clinic resources, office protocols, and processes to patients and families
- Assist with patient follow-up as needed.
- Participate in patient outreach to achieve ongoing quality measures and maintain scheduling guidelines.
- Sustain excellent patient interactions using clear communication and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information at all times.
- Successfully work in a fast-paced, changing environment with effective time management and the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
- Independently recognize, interpret, and evaluate situations and their level of urgency.
- Display high standards of office conduct.
What you'll need:
- The ability to fluently speak, read, and write in English and in Spanish.
- Knowledge of anatomy, major body systems, and medical terminology in Spanish and English.
- Demonstrated exceptional communication skills, including accurately conveying necessary information, listening effectively, and asking questions where clarification is needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a professional interpreting setting (healthcare, legal, or other related) in both remote and in-person modalities, with one year in a healthcare setting.
- Oregon Health Authority Certified HCI required, and be listed on the central registry.
Pay: Commensurate with experience.
Schedule: Wednesday-Friday, evening and weekends as needed.
Shift: 8:30am-5:30pm.
