The Company

TCC Family Health was founded in 1939 by a group of physicians and community leaders who recognized the importance of access to health care for all children, particularly those who are from low-income families and who are at risk for health problems. The Clinic is a true medical home for greater Long Beach and surrounding communities providing medical care and counseling for well-child visits; acute and chronic care; adult clinic; community outreach and education; immunizations; laboratory testing; prescribed medications; and linkage to community resources in (12) clinic sites.

Since then, TCC Family Health has grown from offering weekly well-child care to daily, full-service health care with primary care services for children, adolescents, and adults. TCC is known as a unique leader in the greater Long Beach community, addressing disparities in health by providing quality care for the under-served of all ages, offering them a true “medical home”.

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to obtain accurate reimbursement for healthcare claims by accurately processing claims, completing follow-ups in a timely manner, and by monthly recommendation of write offs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Review billing work queues on a daily basis for potential claims to be processed
• Process an average of 100 claims daily
• Review registration/information is accurate.
• Process PM160 forms according to charge review and CHDP guidelines
• Create and mail out insurance claims and patient statements
• Rebill insurance companies or other third parties to secure payments for patients
• Follow up on claims weekly

· Distributes cash log/payments entered in the system pending charges processing

• Completes Medicare billing in Epic as well as in the DDE system
• Flags delinquent accounts to report to supervisor for further action
• Makes recommendations to management for write-offs.

Other Duties and Requirements

• Follow up on insurance and patients refunds
• Some manual billing or outside of practice software system
• Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (minimum qualifications)

• 1- 2 years of general billing experience
• Some collection experience is a plus
• Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations
• Writes clearly and informatively; presents numerical data effectively
• Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences
• Knowledge of accounting software, Excel and Word

Pay is DOE***

Pay: $23 - $25.00 per hour
