Are you passionate about early childhood education and enjoy variety in your workday? The Children's Center is seeking a Full-Time Floater Educator to support our teaching teams across all age groups—from infants through Pre-K.

This is the perfect position for an educator who enjoys building relationships with children and staff, thrives in different classroom environments, and wants to be part of a collaborative, child-centered community. Every day brings new experiences as you provide support where it's needed most while helping create meaningful learning experiences for children.

About The Children's Center

The Children's Center is a NAEYC-accredited early childhood program committed to providing high-quality care and education through strong relationships, play-based learning, and child-led exploration. Our teaching philosophy is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, the Project Approach, and nature-based learning. We believe children are capable, curious learners and value educators who are reflective, collaborative, and passionate about their work.

What You'll Do

As a Floater Educator, you will:

  • Support classrooms serving children from 6 weeks through Pre-K
  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with children, families, and teaching teams
  • Step into classrooms to provide breaks, planning time, staff coverage, and additional support
  • Assist teachers in implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences
  • Help maintain safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environments
  • Observe and respond to children's individual needs while fostering independence and social-emotional growth
  • Collaborate with educators to ensure consistency in routines and high-quality care throughout the center
  • Adapt confidently to different classrooms and age groups while maintaining a positive, team-focused attitude

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Has experience working with young children in a childcare center, preschool, or similar setting
  • Is warm, dependable, flexible, and enjoys working as part of a team
  • Has a strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice
  • Communicates professionally with children, families, and coworkers
  • Can comfortably transition between infant, toddler, preschool, and Pre-K classrooms throughout the day
  • Is eager to learn and grow professionally
  • Holds or is willing to obtain CPR/First Aid certification
  • Must successfully pass the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Comprehensive Background Check. Candidates who have not yet completed the process must be willing to schedule and obtain the required background check prior to their start date.

Why Join Our Team?

At The Children's Center, we believe our educators deserve to feel valued and supported. We offer:

  • Competitive pay: $19.00–$20.80/hour (based on education and experience)
  • Full-time, year-round employment
  • A collaborative, welcoming team culture
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth
