Curriculum Coach K-12 |
POSITION SUMMARY: The Curriculum Coach is responsible for coaching and mentoring the educational staff at Whitney Hall School. This position will work closely with classroom teachers to develop curriculum, courses, lessons, instructional materials, and assessments to ensure students achieve specific learning standards, goals, and objectives. The Curriculum Coach is in classrooms at least 50% of the time observing instruction and the implementation of curriculum, sharing and modeling instructional strategies, co-teaching, and providing supportive feedback. This position will also plan and facilitate after school grade level meetings and staff development. The Curriculum Coach works as a team member with the management of The Children’s Center of Hamden. This position reports to and collaborates with school level administrators and the VP of Education. This individual should be aware of and sensitive to the cultural diversity of the student population. This employee is expected to perform other duties as assigned. |

Accountable and responsible for the following results: - Assist with state assessments and state reports
- Collaborate with teachers on lesson plan design
- Collaborate with teachers to develop, implement and evaluate curriculum
- Collaborate with teachers on using assessment results to drive instruction
- In classrooms observing instruction and the implementation of curriculum
- Plan and facilitate after school grade level meetings and staff development
- Collaborate with teachers on the planning and implementation of UDL and PBIS
- Collaborate with school districts to ensure students meet graduation requirements
- Spends time within classrooms, modeling instruction, co-teaching, and providing supportive feedback

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | - Experience teaching students with IEPs
- Proficient classroom management skills
- Experience teaching across content areas
- Five years of successful teaching experience
- Five years of experience as a professional educator
- Experience as a TEAM Mentor or willingness to become a TEAM Mentor
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and best practices in curriculum, instruction and assessment
- Strong collaborative and leadership skills to support teachers in the improvement of teaching and learning and curriculum development, implementation and evaluation

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS | - Current Connecticut teaching certificate is required.
- 092 Administrative certificate preferred but not required
- A master’s degree in curriculum, education, or a core content area preferred but not required
