The Safe Place Coordinator is a leadership role dedicated to ensuring the safety, well-being, and support of youth in crisis. This position oversees the Safe Place program's staff and key initiatives, including managing the 24-hour crisis hotline, coordinating case management services, and leading street outreach efforts for runaway and homeless youth in Washoe County. The Coordinator works closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners to provide Safe Place locations, connect youth to essential resources, and provide crisis intervention. Additional responsibilities include program evaluation, compliance oversight, budget management, data analysis, youth advocacy, and program development to enhance services and community outreach.

Duties

  • Support staff in understanding and aligning with The Children's Cabinet's mission, goals, and strategic objectives.
  • Supervise Safe Place Case Managers, including offsite and remote supervision.
  • Model professional communication and workplace behavior.
  • Provide staff training in crisis response protocols, case management best practices, and program procedures.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with best practices and funder requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of funding sources, reporting requirements, and compliance expectations.
  • Support staff in conducting assessments, screenings, and referrals to community resources.
  • Serve as a point of contact for staff navigating crisis situations.
  • Conduct case audits and staffings to ensure compliance with program requirements and best practices.
  • Coordinate and oversee targeted outreach to identify and engage youth and families in need of services.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, schools, law enforcement, and service providers.
  • Engage in outreach efforts to expand program impact and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate client records in Safe Place databases.
  • Complete quarterly reports on Safe Place outreach and program data.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness using data analysis, feedback, and measurable outcomes.
  • Identify trends and gaps in services and implement improvements accordingly.
  • Ensure data consistency and compliance with organizational and funding requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to program activities, case management, and supervisory duties.
  • Manage program budget under the supervision of the Program Manager/Director.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback to team members.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years' work experience, which includes program planning, case management, and crisis management experience. Experience in areas such as middle and high school education, work force development, juvenile justice, and family focused support is preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted for the degree.
  • Supervisory experience is highly preferred.

Stipulations

  • Must have reliable vehicle for work and off-site outreach and events;
  • Must possess a valid Nevada Driver's License, and have current insurance for using a personal vehicle for company work;
  • Must be able to lift and carry 25lbs; walk up and down stairs; get up and down on the floor; possess fine and gross motor skills; repetitive motion when inputting data
  • Requires occasional weekend and evening hours.
  • Requires travel in state and out of state for training and/or home visits.
  • Must complete and pass background check
