The Grant Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing The Children's Cabinet's mission by securing and stewarding funding that supports children and families across our community. In this role, you'll identify funding opportunities, coordinate grant submissions, and ensure timely reporting and compliance for private, corporate, and foundation grants.

This is a fully in-office position, working closely with internal teams to gather program data, develop compelling proposals, and track outcomes that tell the story of our impact.

This position is available in either Las Vegas, NV or Reno, NV

The Grant Coordinator plays a key role in supporting The Children's Cabinet's mission by identifying funding opportunities, coordinating grant submissions, and ensuring timely reporting and compliance for private, corporate, and foundation grants. This position works collaboratively across departments to gather program data, develop compelling proposals, track grant deliverables, and maintain strong stewardship of funding relationships.

This is a fully in-office position, working closely with internal teams to gather program data, develop compelling proposals, and track outcomes that tell the story of our impact.

This role requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, project management, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while working in a fast-paced nonprofit environment. The ideal candidate is both strategic and highly organized, with experience supporting grant development from prospecting through post-award reporting.

Supervision: Student interns and community volunteers.

Duties

  • Research and identify new grant opportunities from private foundations, corporations, and government sources aligned with agency priorities
  • Maintain a pipeline of prospective funding opportunities and grant calendars
  • Monitor deadlines, eligibility requirements, and submission guidelines
  • Support strategic funding recommendations based on organizational priorities
  • Coordinate and draft grant proposals, letters of inquiry, applications, and supporting materials
  • Collaborate with program leaders, finance, and leadership to gather narratives, budgets, data, and required documentation
  • Ensure proposals are accurate, compelling, and submitted on time
  • Maintain standard proposal language, agency boilerplate, and grant templates
  • May support the development of government grant proposals, as needed, including assisting with narrative development, coordination of required materials, and adherence to submission requirements
  • Track reporting deadlines and ensure timely completion of grant reports
  • Collect program outcomes, financial data, and impact stories for funder reporting
  • Support post-award compliance requirements, including documentation and grant file management
  • Work closely with finance and program teams to ensure grant spending aligns with funder requirements
  • Support stewardship of funder relationships through timely communication and reporting
  • Assist with funder site visits, meetings, and follow-up communication
  • Maintain accurate grant records within internal systems and donor databases
  • Partner across departments to improve grant readiness, documentation, and data collection processes
  • Support agency-wide understanding of grant requirements and deliverables
  • Assist with audits and compliance reviews related to grant funding
  • Support broader fundraising and development activities as needed, contributing to donor engagement, materials, and organizational fundraising efforts.

Minimum Qualifications Needed:

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills, particularly in managing multiple grants, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to develop clear, compelling, and accurate grant proposals and reports.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate across departments and keep multiple priorities on track.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of computer competency, including Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Experience with grant databases, donor CRM systems, and tracking tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit funding sources, including foundations, corporate giving, and government grants is a plus.
  • Understanding of community-based programs and services, particularly in human services, is preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, public administration, English, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, grant coordination, fundraising, nonprofit development, or related field.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle to get to and from work, events, and errands.
  • Must possess a valid Nevada Driver's license, proof of insurance for utilizing a personal vehicle for company business, and a clean driving record.
  • Must be capable of fulfilling all the physical aspects of the job including but not limited to: being able to lift and carry 40 lbs.; able to walk up and down stairs, repetitive keystroking (initiating and responding to e-mails; typing copy, etc.)
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends. Some travel required; office visits and/or training.
