Job Summary: The assistant teacher supports the development of children in our toddler classroom. This role involves working closely with the lead teacher to create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment that supports toddlers as they explore the world, develop independence, and reach key developmental milestones. The assistant teacher will assist daily in classroom routines, foster child development, and promote positive learning experiences in accordance with the center’s goals and philosophy.
Key Responsibilities:
· Support the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily routines, lessons and activities that are age-appropriate for toddlers.
· Provide close supervision and ensure the safety of toddlers at all times.
· Help with diapering, feeding, and maintaining hygiene routines.
· Build positive relationships with children and encourage their social and emotional growth.
· Encourage social, emotional, and language development through positive interaction and guided play.
· Communicate professionally and effectively with children, parents and staff.
· Observe and document children’s behavior and development as directed.
· Help maintain a clean, organized and child-friendly classroom environment.
· Assist in preparing materials, setting up activities, and cleaning up after classroom sessions.
· Attend staff meetings, training and professional development sessions.
· Follow all licensing and center-specific policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
· Enthusiasm for working with children and supporting their development.
· Ability to work collaboratively with a teaching team.
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
· Understanding of toddler development and appropriate practices.
· CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
· Completion of DCF 45 Introductory Hours (or willingness to obtain).

· Physical ability to lift 30 pounds, bend, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children throughout the day.
Working Conditions:
· Busy, hands-on classroom setting with both indoor and outdoor activities
· Interaction with children, families and staff members on a daily basis
· Fast-paced and interactive environment with frequent child and parent interaction.
· Full Time, Monday through Friday, 9:00AM-6:00PM
