We operate a play-based early childhood program (mixed age preschool) in mid-city Baton Rouge. We are seeking someone who is passionate about authentic, child-led play, and can appreciate and actively support the key role it has in all domains of child development. We are seeking someone who:
Wants to play outside every day, yes, even with the youngest of infants.
Lets children take physical and emotional risks.
Trusts children with the ability to make sense of the world through unstructured, freely chosen play.
Likes to do messy sensory exploration with art materials, yes, even with infants.
Is comfortable on a multi-aged playground filled with loose parts and items that might be considered “junk” to others.
Wants to be part of a team of caregivers who share space and each lead their own class.

Applicant must be at least 18 years old, have experience working in a child care center specifically with infants & toddlers, have a sense of humor, a creative mind, an outstanding work ethic, have a positive relationship with dirt, mud, & glitter, loves to be outside for hours on end, be motivated to learn and grow as a teacher/caregiver, and able & willing to submit to a fingerprint-based Child Care Criminal Background check.
For the full time position, the applicant must be available 7:30 - 5:30 Monday - Friday. For the part time position, the hours will vary depending on need. Our program is full with a waiting list and therefore we are unable to accept staff children at this time.
