What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Advocate position at THE CHILD CENTER OF NY?
Please note, this is a seasonal position. Must be available to work May – End of August.
The Youth Advocate works directly with participants, overseeing content specific to after school and or summer programming including workshops on job readiness, financial literacy, civic engagement/advocacy, college/career readiness, self-esteem building, life skills and more.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with site leadership in the planning, development and execution of quality, project-based youth development activities.
• Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families & school faculty
• Coordinate events & functions in specialty area such as: showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events, etc.
• Engage participants in specialty area activities. Provide support through encouragement and delivering resources.
• Prepare related paperwork, materials and implementation supplies. Timely submission of all program and certification related documents.
Hours are flexible and can vary.
Approx. 20 hrs./week
