Position Summary

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the development of policy and procedures for the program. The Program Coordinator assigns work, develops, and communicates expected productivity levels to all staff; prepares and monitors program costs to ensure compliance with program budget.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures staff are appropriately recruited and subsequently trained to meet program requirements.
  • Ensures that program productivity goals are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Participates in program planning. Identifies gaps in services and programs and makes recommendations for meeting community needs.
  • Create/Update Program documents and forms.
  • Publicizes program and acts as a representative to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Addresses the special needs of each group served, and assists in making reasonable accommodations for the hearing impaired, physically challenged or any other disability.
  • Collaborate with primary counselors to identify students’ career interests and develop ideas for individually tailored internship placements.
  • Develop internships in a diverse range of employment fields to match students’ interests, skills, maturity levels, and experience.
  • Maintain all paperwork associated with the internship placement process, including hiring packets, timesheets etc.
  • Plan and execute career panels, fairs and workshops in collaboration with other primary counselors.
  • Provide guidance to employers on maximizing internship experiences by working effectively with adolescents.
  • Provide support to employers and students during internships in the form of phone calls, meetings and site visits.
  • Facilitate weekly seminars for students that focus on building students’ skills in education and career development.
  • Assist students’ post-internship with future employment and provide educational and career development counseling and support.
  • Plan, implement and execute all aspects of the recruitment process.
  • Overall supervisory responsibility over internship program planning, reporting, tracking, program development and implementation, assessment and evaluation, and contract compliance.
  • Meet with staff from SYEP sites to share learning, compare approaches and develop new program ideas.
  • Responsible for collaboration with DOE in many different aspects (Events, daily operations, trips, committees).
  • Travel is required and assist with out-of-school issues and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Director and support the day-to-day operations of the site when PD is off site.


Hours

Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (flexibility for evening hours for occasional school events)

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Program/Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work or other related field (Preferred)
  • Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others, may be required depending on client needs
  • 2 years’ running a school-based program
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently
  • Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task
