Title: Development and Outreach Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Event Volunteers
Position Type and hours expected: Full Time; 40 hours per week M-F; some nights and weekends expected in lieu of M-F. Salaried position (no overtime). Open to 30-32 hours per week if preferred for the right candidate.
Salary Range - Full Time Equivalent: $50,000-$60,000.Exempt employee, At-Will basis.
Other: Paid Time Off, Earned Sick Leave, Monthly Health Stipend; 3% Matching Employer Sponsored IRA after 90 days.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions that this position will be responsible for, but duties are not limited to:
YOU WILL LEAD:
Event creation and execution.
- Work with community partners, committee members, volunteers, and staff colleagues to bring fundraising events to fruition. Two annual fundraising events have long traditions and established patterns. Maintaining these and developing new additional possibilities is needed.
- Financial management, volunteer leadership, participant communication, sponsor and vendor relations.
Grant and donor/fund development processes.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors / Fund Development Committee to set and achieve fundraising goals for the organization.
- Working with the Executive Director to identify, apply for, and manage various grants to support existing and future organizational needs.
- Efforts towards donor development and retention, database management and communication.
Community participation.
- Coordinating the CAC’s presence and participation at various community events, community presentations, etc.
- Social media, occasional newsletters, annual report.
YOU WILL ASSIST:
Direct Service Support
- The CAC’s direct service is in the realm of child abuse response and prevention. All CAC team members are called upon from time to time to be present (reception/waiting room and such tasks) with families during appointment times.
Outreach and Prevention Programming
- With the CAC team, contribute to the management of existing outreach / prevention activities, and develop new initiatives.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend training and conferences as required.
- Various other duties and special projects to be assigned in partnership with the Executive Director.
SKILLS, KNOWELDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills required
- Strong interpersonal relationship and crisis management skills
- A sound knowledge of child trauma and victimization issues
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
- Displays leadership and professional integrity.
- Demonstrates ability to hold self and others accountable.
- Must be able to professionally represent the office to internal and external community members and team members at various locations and events.
- Preferred experience in nonprofit policies, social media, fundraising, special events, content marketing for victim services.
- Employees must be able to gracefully manage a variety of emotions under stressful situations and be able to facilitate interactions with clients, families, and caregivers who may be upset. Emotional stability and personal maturity are essential.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline
- Preferred: Nonprofit experience
- Preferred: Marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, fundraising, nonprofit management, communications, content marketing, special events, or related.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Travel: This position may require some travel for meetings, training, and conferences. You must be able to provide proof of having a current, valid driver's license and current automobile insurance. Access to a reliable vehicle is critical, mileage will be reimbursed at the appropriate federal rate.
FURTHER INFORMATION
The physical environment is an office building. According to The Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County's hiring policies, the position requires sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and doing some light lifting. All CAC Lapeer employees must complete and pass a criminal background check, Michigan and National Sex Offender Registry Check, and Central Registry check with the Department of Health and Human Services before hiring. Employees will have their backgrounds screened annually. Any employee who has not resided in the state of Michigan for at least five years before hire must sign a waiver attesting to the fact that they have never been convicted of a felony or identified as a perpetrator. Persons who have assaultive, child abuse, or criminal sexual conduct charges or convictions are not eligible for employment with CAC Lapeer.
