Department: Laundry and Uniform Plant
Job Title: Laundry Attendant
General Definition: This general labor position is responsible for operating Garment Inventory Management System, conveyor operations and daily physical labor necessary to run the laundry department.
Supervision Received: Laundry Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor
Supervision Exercised: None
Essential Job Functions:
- Manually operates the following equipment: Garment Inventory Management System, washing/drying machine, ironing/pressing equipment and conveyor equipment.
- Carry uniforms, hotel laundry and other supplies to and from the uniform distribution vehicles.
- Verify quantities being shipped to and received from the facility by counting each garment .
- Prepare laundry for delivery to facilities by pressing, steaming, and inspecting ensuring department quality standards are being maintained.
- Clean garments daily to ensure stains are pretreated prior to dry cleaning.
- Sort laundry by tag numbers to ensure orderly storage and processing of items.
- Clean the facility by performing task such as taking out trash, sweeping and mopping floors to ensure the workplace is safe from these potential safety hazards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to read, understand, apply and retain knowledge of departmental rules, regulations and policies.
- Must be honest, team oriented, and have initiative to work without supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with management, staff, co-workers and the general public.
- Requires prolonged sitting, standing, or walking; requires mobility, eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time in order to properly perform the assigned job duties.
- May be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, possess good manual dexterity, and hand/eye coordination
- Must be able to step, bend, climb, crawl and reach in all directions with hands and arms.
- Must be able to tolerate various climates and temperatures, including outside weather conditions or indoor climate controlled environments
Training and Experience:
- Previous Laundry or Dry Cleaning experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
- Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result.
