What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Housekeeper/Innkeeper/Gardener position at The Cherry Tree Inn Bed & Breakfast?
It's A Dream Job To Help Run A Beautiful B&B! Please Read Completely Before Applying! Previous work as a housekeeper is a must. I need a little extra help to back up my small team and family members. Ideal for someone looking to work 2-4 days a week. I am recovering from medical treatments and need extra hands.
I am looking for a charming and outgoing part-time assistant/housekeeper/gardener/cook at my very popular and famous Bed & Breakfast. Please feel free to tell me why you feel that you are perfect for this position.
NOTE.....90% of B&B work is cleaning and HARD WORK! Lots of up & down staircases, carrying laundry, boxes, repetitive bending and reaching.
Ideal hours are between 10 am-3 pm with some flexibility for afternoon check-ins as needed. If you will be covering any breakfast prep, cooking and cleaning will be from 7:30-12pm. You are able to set and chahe your day and hours with other staff as long as we do not have events scheduled.
Live in opportunity later for the right fit with prior hospitality experience. This is an 8 bedroom 9 bath, 2 laundryroom house on a large corner lot. Lots of space to explore and pitch in wherever needed. We have a second property a block away, with 3 bedroom 3 1/2 bath that will be a part of the cleaning duties. Primarily, help will be with the 5 guest suites, main B&B areas, and my personal apartment. We host events and small weddings, too. Experience in party planning, decorating, and floral arrangemnts helpful.
* Opportunity to be the interim innkeeper when we take vacation days for additional bonus pay. That means you would stay on the property and cover all neccessary tasks during that time for a salary.
*Trustworthy self-starter with experience in extensive house cleaning required. Outgoing, confident, fun & friendly manners are needed for regular guest interactions. Tourists pop in almost daily to see the property and get a Groundhog Day movie tour. Working Weekends is a must. Flexible some weekends when planned ahead.
*Must be ambitious & detail oriented. Loving to clean and organize is essential! A passion for hospitality & customer service is ideal. We are an LGBTQIA family-run business, so all people need to be treated with respect.
*Possible extra hours May-Sept. Gardening & Holiday setup is needed, which requires fast-paced turnover times.
*Primary duties will be daily maticulous room cleaning and staging the house for guest arrivals. Breakfast cleanup, tidy porch, and gardening maintenance as needed assisiting our dedicated gardener. Duties & hours can vary depending on bookings 2-4 days a week during training. Limited flexibility on weekends for room changeovers. Check out is 11 am and checkin is 3pm. Earlier, upon request.
* Daily Chore List Provided in Detail. Dust, sweep, mop, make beds, carry, wash & fold laundry up to 12 loads of laundry a day between guest arrivals. Deep cleaning in main guest areas as needed when there are no guests. Baseboards, windows, doors, blinds etc. Must move reasonably sized furniture pieces to clean. Restocking & occasional shopping are needed. What most people do as weekly or monthly house cleaning at home, we do daily.
* Early Shift Breakfast set up and dishes daily. Cooking & baking can be added if you're interested.
*There is no shortage of jobs to be done at this B&B. This is perfect for someone who loves to be very busy, moves quickly, & efficiantly all of the time. If you are only looking for a job where you hang out & chat with guests, move on; that is only 5-10% of the time here for me.
Note: We have 1 judgmental 10-year-old big dog in our private attached apartment, up where the laundry is. Once you're introduced, he'll love you. Taking him outsida occassionally is needed. Cleaning my apartment will be part of your weekly or as needed jobs, too. If you have a fear or allergies to pets, this will not be a good fit for you, as we tend to attract strays.
** We are famous for movies like Groundhog Day, Reporting for Christmas & Exes of Chrsitmas Past. Check us out online to get an idea of the house & expectations of our guests. Social media and reviews are important. Over 25,000 people look us up a month. Several people come by the house to take photos and get tours daily.
