The Chemours Titanium Technology facility located in New Johnsonville, TN has a full-time Production First Line Supervisor position available. This position may be filled in any operating area on site depending on candidate qualifications and interest.  The filled position will report to an Operations Manager in either the Reaction & Purification/Oxidation area or Finishing/Finished Products area. 

The First Line Supervisor (FLS) is responsible for leading frontline hourly employees to safely produce quality product while meeting daily production goals. This role is hands‑on and people‑focused, balancing safety, quality, delivery, and cost while developing employees through coaching, accountability, and clear communication.

The FLS is the primary link between the workforce and site leadership and plays a critical role in building a strong safety culture and reliable operations.

The Production First Line Supervisor role supervises a staff of production employees. Ensures adherence to established operations and safety policies and procedures. Maintains standards in the areas of housekeeping, safety, attendance, operational discipline, process safety management, and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Responsible for communications up and down the line and for assuring that communications from team members are accurate and complete. Responsible for responding to personnel, operational, safety, and environmental incidents. Ensure work is completed in accordance with the production schedule. 

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead by example to promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all safety rules, procedures, and permit‑to‑work requirements are met.
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with OSHA, PSM, and company standards.
  • Conduct safety observations, toolbox talks, and incident follow‑ups.
  • Set expectations and hold people accountable for Core Value compliance (EHS/PSM, Ethics & Respect for People) and model the appropriate behavior.  
  • Effectively communicate and implement site directions and messages to team ensuring the work alignment is clear.  
  • Coordinate all aspects of equipment readiness for scheduled maintenance, including cleanliness, decontamination, lock-out procedures, and required work permits.  
  • Oversee and coordinate contract operations within the assigned area to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution of work.  
  • Coordinate daily work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads  
  • Facilitate Visual Performance Management activities with team members including any problem solving.  
  • Ensure employees follow established Maintenance Work Management Process; especially, early work identification and work notification creation.  
  • Interface with Maintenance Coordinator, Maintenance or Production Supervisors, Planning Groups, Manufacturing Technical Engineers etc. on priorities and needs to ensure effective execution of work.  
  • Participates in investigation of quality, uptime, safety, etc. for the Area and determines appropriate corrective action.   
  • Ensure employees comply with established Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Operating Conditions including production related components of a quality system such as ISO.  
  • Monitor and make adjustments to controllable item costs of manufacturing, for example, overtime, operating supplies and waste reduction.   
  • Complete Leader Standard Work, including frequent “line walks” and routine coaching of team members, shift notes and turnover documentation, timekeeping, and other required documentation.
  • Evaluates employee performance and prepares performance appraisals.  
  • Initiates the awards and recognition process for individuals and/or teams, and celebrates, area’s  accomplishments.  
  • Organize and manage staffing levels to ensure adequate support for production needs  



The following is required for this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution 
  • 3-4 years of experience in an industrial or production related role with the ability to motivate, train and lead employees 
  • Strong safety mindset and willingness to hold self and others accountable.
  • Ability to make timely, accurate decisions in a fast‑paced environment using good reasoning skills and analyzing data.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as required in an industrial environment and around operating industrial equipment (noise, PPE, walking/standing, climbing ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, outdoor work environment).
  • Ability to respond to plant emergencies when required.
  • Frequently lifts or moves up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves up to 55 pounds. 
  • Ability to read and interpret various plans and designs. 
  • Knowledge of chemical operations and safety Verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer use such as Microsoft Office and other special programs as needed 

The following is preferred for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate's degree  
  • Six Sigma Green Belt/Lean certification preferred   
  • PSM Training / Experience
  • Operations, scheduling, and planning experiences  
  • SAP or other ERP Systems  
  • Experience with chemical industry emergency response processes
