Stock Associate
Position Summary
The Stock Associate supports daily retail, wholesale, and operational functions by ensuring all products are properly received, organized, rotated, stored, and staged for use or fulfillment. This role is responsible for maintaining efficient back-of-house operations, including stockrooms, walk-ins, freezers, loading areas, and storage spaces.
The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, physically capable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced food retail environment with specialty, refrigerated and frozen products. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality, inventory accuracy, cleanliness, and smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Deliveries
- Receive and unload incoming deliveries using safe lifting techniques and equipment such as carts or hand trucks
- Verify product, counts and inspect deliveries for quality, shortages, damage, or discrepancies
- Communicate any damaged, missing, or incorrect items to management immediately
- Break down pallets, boxes, shrink wrap, and packaging materials
- Stage received products for storage, retail replenishment, production use, or wholesale fulfillment
Product Stocking & Organization
- Unpack, sort, label, and store incoming products in designated dry, refrigerated, frozen, or specialty storage areas
- Restock shelves, coolers, displays, and storage locations as directed
- Maintain organization and cleanliness in all stockrooms, walk-ins, and storage areas
- Consolidate partial cases and reorganize shelving to maximize storage efficiency
- Ensure all products are properly rotated using FIFO
- Remove expired, damaged, or spoiled product following company disposal procedures
- Assist in preparing products for the sales floor and operational use
Refrigeration & Cold Storage
- Organize and maintain walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and cold storage areas
- Monitor and log temperatures as required and report any issues immediately
- Properly store perishable items to maintain product integrity and freshness
- Keep refrigerated and frozen storage areas clean, sanitized, and free of hazards
Inventory & Fulfillment Support
- Support inventory counts, cycle counts, and stock organization projects
- Alert management to low stock levels, overstock, or products nearing expiration
- Pull and stage products accurately for wholesale orders, catering, or internal use
- Assist drivers or team members with loading delivery vehicles
- Communicate with retail, wholesale, production, and operations teams regarding inventory status, shortages, or substitutions
Cleaning & Facility Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness of stockrooms, loading docks, prep areas, and common workspaces
- Sweep, mop, remove trash and recycling, and keep all work areas free of clutter
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and storage protocols
- Report maintenance concerns, equipment issues, or safety hazards promptly
Skills & Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in retail, grocery, warehouse, food production, or food service preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Comfortable working in refrigerated, freezer, and cold storage environments
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, as needed
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices preferred

- Deliveries are received, stored, and rotated accurately and efficiently
- Retail and wholesale teams have timely access to products they need
- Inventory is properly maintained with minimal waste or spoilage

Compensation
$20.00 hourly
