Job Title: Paralegal
Location: Charlotte, NC
Job Type: Full-Time, in office
About: Chapman, Dowling & Mallek is seeking a litigation paralegal for its office in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. The associate will work alongside attorneys on both civil and criminal matters in state and federal courts across the country relating to wire fraud, health care fraud, securities fraud, bribery, money laundering, conspiracy, and violations of the federal Controlled Substances Act. As a rapidly growing firm, we are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented paralegal to join our team. The Firm is seeking a paralegal to assist with managing discovery and preparing cases for trial.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Assist attorney(s) with case preparation, including legal research, drafting motions and preparing legal documents (i.e. subpoenas, discovery requests, etc.)
● Communicate with clients, opposing counsel and court personnel
● Maintain organized case files and documentation, ensuring timely updates and follow-ups
● Prepare and file legal documents with courts or other government agencies
● Manage case schedules, including court dates, deadlines and meetings
● Review case documents and coordinate with experts and witnesses as necessary
● Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and evidence
Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certification or equivalent experience
● Experience working with the federal court filing system (CM/ECF)
● Previous experience assisting attorneys with litigation (civil or criminal)
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
● Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
● Strong research and analytical skills
● Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
