POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Routinely plan daily irrigation activities including long and short range deliveries and adjustments of water, and manipulation of control structures for assigned patrol. Responsible for the personal operation of all the patrol area facilities in a complex lateral system. Conduct water measurement analysis as it pertains to operation of canals and laterals of moderate capacities and proper reporting procedures of such measurements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school degree or equivalent education
- Maintain a valid Nebraska driver’s license
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operate and maintain equipment and structures in the patrol area such as wells, gate lifts, stop logs, etc.
- Take water measurements and keep records of water delivered
- Perform maintenance work such as truck driving, mowing, carpentry, concrete repairs, painting, etc. as required during the non-irrigation season
- Communicate with landowners, water user and the general public on a regular basis
- Perform other duties as assigned
LIVING REQUIREMENTS
- Within 40 miles of employee’s base
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Natural work hazards associated with working around water, equipment, excavations and field construction
- Occasional unusual working hours primarily due to emergencies
- Mild work stress associated with time pressures, emergency situations, and/or changes in work priorities
- Available on an infrequent basis for emergency call-outs
- Strong physical, emotional, and mental stamina required to work long hours under harsh working conditions
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.78 - $31.38 per hour
