EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST
Job Summary
The ECMH Therapist works with youth (0-5) that are struggling with emotional or behavioral difficulties in the home, school, or community. The Therapist is responsible for providing assessment and counseling services to children and families in individual and group formats, along with providing professional development to early learning staff. This clinician manages a diverse caseload and collaborates with persons served and other providers to assure that the mental, emotional, and psychosocial needs of The Centers’ clients are addressed. The clinician works within the Early Learning Program under the supervision of Behavioral Health, Family Services.
This position is Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm, may require later evenings with flex time.

This job operates in a professional office and school environment as well as includes home and community visits. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Travel and work outside of normal hours may be required for meetings, presentations, trainings, and other events.

Job Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Related Field.
- Professional III-- LSW or LPC required
- Professional IV-- LISW or LPCC licensure
- Preferred IECMH credential, or to complete requirements to secure credential within first 5 months of employment
- Experience with diagnostic assessment and counseling with individuals, families, and groups.
- State of Ohio driver license
- Minimum two years’ experience working with children ages birth through 12, preferred.
- Working knowledge of the stages of growth and development and family dynamics.
- Skilled at use of DSM V for diagnosis of mental disorders. Preferred training with Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood (DC 0-5).
- Training and/or experience with individuals who have been involved in situations of trauma.
- Demonstrated clinical skills and an ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Understand and accept a systems approach to service delivery and agency and program philosophy and goals.
- Administer Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA) to community-based families and timely completion of data entry
- Review data from eDECA social/emotional assessment screenings completed by caregivers to support and plan for at home intervention
- Provide weekly consultation services to children and families in the community
- Facilitate diagnostic assessments for children requiring therapeutic level of care
- Complete Collaborative Care Plan development with families as needed.
- Complete all paperwork required by the agency within designated timeframes.
- Maintain working relationships with other social service organizations and community supports to facilitate access to additional mental health resources and services as needed to address service gaps and/or provide appropriate referrals.
- Work collaboratively with the Early Learning program as a support to families and staff involved with the center-based programming, serving children from birth to age 5.
- Identify needs and provides training and coaching to teachers around improving classroom management and teacher practices through strategies that include using classroom observations and consultations to address teacher and individual child needs to promote positive mental health and social and emotional functioning.
- Provide behavioral health consultation to Early Learning parents as needed.
- Complete observations and develop individual or classroom plans within the Early Learning Program as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
