Phlebotomist

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients, ensuring accurate labeling and handling, and maintaining a high standard of patient care. Your expertise will support diagnostic testing and patient treatment plans. Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using aseptic techniques to ensure specimen integrity and patient safety
• Prepare and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing, including proper labeling, handling, and documentation
• Assist patients with specimen collection procedures while providing compassionate care and clear instructions
• Maintain compliance with all safety standards and protocols, and infection control guidelines
• Record vital signs and relevant patient information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems with precision
• Ensure proper specimen storage, transportation, and documentation to facilitate timely laboratory analysis
• Demonstrate knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to support accurate specimen collection across diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical laboratory work or clinical laboratory settings with a focus on phlebotomy or specimen collection
• Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and specimen handling protocols
• Certification or training in phlebotomy
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and record keeping
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and stand for extended periods during specimen collection procedures
• Knowledge of safety standards, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
• Basic understanding of physiology, anatomy, blood sampling methods, vital signs monitoring, and clinical laboratory operations

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
