Job Overview:

The area of responsibility shall include initiating and setting goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization. The Director of Services will act as a bridge between strategy and execution, responsible for overseeing the successful planning and execution of all programs. Planning the programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones, and processes. Developing or approving budgets and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a resource for service planning and implementation when needed by staff members.
  • Adhere to The Center Star Standards (Service, Team, Attitude, Reliability)
  • Be available during all programming hours to address any concerns that arise
  • Chair the parent advisory committee
  • Create and develop departmental forms when needed, including staff evaluation forms
  • Create staff comparisons to ensure efficiencies.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and assignment of clients.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate interventions/behavior management techniques, manage emergencies in accordance with The Center health and safety policies, including the preparation/review/submission of reports of unusual incidents, and/or accident investigation reports.
  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and metrics
  • Expect each staff members to deliver services of the highest quality.
  • Facilitate departmental audits
  • Facilitate monthly staff meetings
  • Implement the principals of the Person-Centered Planning throughout the department.
  • Liaise with Executive Director to make decisions for operational activities and assist with strategic goals.
  • Manage relationships/agreements with external partners in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Monitor staff members’ performance and complete periodic reviews in a timely manner.
  • Monitor waiting list when needed.
  • Oversee and monitor all service staff members.
  • Oversee the customer support process and organize them to enhance customer satisfaction
  • Oversee, monitor, and ensure department services are delivered in accordance with plans of service, thorough, and meet standards of The Center, CARF, and other regulatory agencies and contracts.
  • Oversee all incident reports and accident reports. Ensure the completion and deliver of each.
  • Maintain personnel files.
  • Oversee all service documentation: vehicle receipts, monthly documentation, including medication sheets and client general ledgers.
  • Track and monitor vehicle GPS.
  • Schedule DSP trainings.
  • Participate in departmental budgets; responsible to stay within budget.
  • Participate in grant writing when necessary.
  • Participate in provider meetings and any other agency meetings.
  • Participate in SAR Committee.
  • Participate in the Human Resource committee.
  • Provides counsel and support for all staff members in your departments.
  • Recommend to Executive Director improvements/updates in any facet of services, including the development of new services/programs
  • Recruit, interview, develop staff members, and provide disciplinary feedback, including recommendation for termination when necessary.

  • Responsible for reporting program outcomes, including United Way reporting
  • Responsible for staff action forms.
  • Review all department policies/procedures to ensure accuracy, including all client handbooks.
  • Review billing claims with Finance Assistant to ensure accuracy.
  • Investigate any billing issues.
  • Review staff expense reports and timesheets for accuracy.
  • Review weekly schedules to ensure authorized hours are being covered.
  • Revise and update current programs as needed
  • Treat all clients and staff members with dignity and respect.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent years of experience) in Human Services or related field.
  • Experience:
  • 4 years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • 2 years’ experience in supervising others.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • The Director of Services position will typically work in an office setting and will access the community many times throughout the week. Frequent sitting, standing, talking, and active listening. Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, crawling, reaching, walking, driving, traveling, kneeling and crouching.
