Some Job Responsibilities:
- Supervises assigned student at all times during the school day; including but not limited to when in the classroom, during transitions, during therapies, recreational times, community/field trips, during specials (for example: Art, Music, Adaptive Physical Education), and busing.
- Implements educational, therapeutic, and behavioral plans under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher, therapy staff, and clinical staff.
- Assists assigned student in all activities of daily living while promoting independence and assist the student throughout the school day with instructional and non-instructional tasks as directed by the Special Education Teacher.
- Functions as a positive and contributing member of the classroom team.
- Attend meetings and trainings as determined by the teachers, school administration, and the Children’s Residence Program. Additionally, you must complete all assigned trainings to ensure compliance with department, organization, and OPWDD, as well as to better understand and support those you work with.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with administration, staff, and parents.
- Assist with the data collection of the assigned student to provide information for necessary record keeping. Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of classroom, equipment and supplies.
- Work with classroom team to ensure a safe and organized environment.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED;
- Valid NYS Driver’s License;
- Able to lift 50 pounds;
- Able to stand and bend throughout the day;
- Great verbal and written communication skills.
