Position: Youth Care Professional
Work hours: Full & Part Time for 2nd Shift 3pm-11pm; including partial weekend scheduling.
Position Description: Serves as day-to-day advisor and milieu counselor for youth residents at The Center for Children & Young Adults ages 16-21. Managing resident daily calendars and dorm activities, enhancing the environment, engaging youth to provide guidance and assistance in developing individual skills required to meet established goals. Reports to Program Director.
Organization & Mission: The Center for Children & Young Adults (CCYA) is a not-for-profit organization housing youth and young adults in need of shelter, supervision and youth development. Our mission is to provide safe & suitable housing, youth development activities and comprehensive supportive housing services for at-risk homeless youth who have been abandoned, abused, neglected and/or sexually exploited. www.ccyakids.org
Job Characteristics and Qualifications: The YCP staff work in a Transitional Living Program serving young women and men. Reports to the assigned Program Director or shift lead. Position requires initiative, dependability, and exceptional problem- solving skills and follow through. Candidate must be skilled in working with young people and exceptional in building rapport and trust, while establishing a structured and therapeutic environment. This position requires
· HS Diploma or GED with minimum 2 years of experience with youth and young adults, Bachelor Degree preferred and may substitute for direct experience;
· Valid Driver’s License; at least 25 years of age qualifies use of company vehicles;
· Knowledge of adolescent and child growth and development;
· Ability to develop, motivate, and utilize appropriate problem solving solutions;
· Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
· Strong computer and typing skills
· Ability to work flexible hours
· Maintain CPI and CPR/1st Aid Certification
· Complete 6 hours training per quarter, minimum 24 hours annual training
· Criminal history and live scan fingerprint clearances required for employment
· Health Physical and Drug screening required for employment
