Responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, commissioning, repair, training, and technical support of assigned orders relating to automation, controls, and electronic products within a customer's location and/or within RG Group. Additionally, the Controls & Automation Technician will be responsible for timely and quality service, supervision, and the design/quote process for assigned orders as they will be the subject matter expert.
Essential Functions
- Fabricate, assemble, commission, install, troubleshoot, and repair controls/automation systems and equipment.
- Build electrical panels and install the wiring of electrical devices.
- Troubleshoot controls/automation systems using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensors, or feedback systems.
- Conduct tests, inspections, and evaluations of mechanical, electrical, and software components relating to controls/automation systems and equipment.
- Keep accurate records of service calls, maintain inventory of fabrication and service parts, tools, and test equipment.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on controls/automation systems by utilizing reference materials including manuals, drawings, and procedures.
- Set parameters, positioning, and sequences for an automation system.
- Provide support and backup for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and all products backing these systems.
- Responsible for delivering high quality products, services, and customer satisfaction, as well as working well with the team and providing support or coverage as needed.
- Overnight travel could be required to support installation and commissioning.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of fabricating and assembly of controls, automation systems and electronic components, including drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with pneumatic systems and hydraulic systems, including drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of design and product specifications as it relates to controls, automation systems, pneumatic systems and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with fabrication and field installation of controls, automation systems, pneumatic systems and hydraulic systems.
- Strong math and reading skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Both office and manufacturing environment
- Customer facilities
- Light travel that may be overnight required
- High School Diploma
- College Degree preferred
- 3 years of fabrication and assembly experience
