  • Performs a variety of complex and confidential administrative support duties under the direction of the Senior Vice Provost for Research (SVPR)
  • Serves as the Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice Provost for Research (SVPR)
  • Provides multi-faceted administrative support and assistance to ensure effective use of SVPR’s time and productive interactions with leadership, faculty, staff and the public
  • Manages the SVPR’s calendar, complex travel arrangements, meeting preparations, follow up tasks
  • Conducts information gathering on behalf of SVPR and prepares summaries and reports.
  • Develops positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Uses discretion, judgment, and knowledge of the organization to facilitate SVPR’s activities and maintain confidentiality.
  • Coordinates research space requests, moves, and outfitting of research spaces under the direction of the SVPR.
  • Office manager for ordering, budgets, and student staff, and works closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects (pre-award), the Institutional Partnership office in Advancement, and the Office of Sponsored Accounting (post-award) to facilitate collaboration between offices.
  • Other duties as assigned by the SVPR.
  • Assist the SVPR to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the SVPR’s Office.
  • Collaborate with others in the SVPR Office to ensure that equipment and supplies for office operations are ready to use including photocopying, printing, mail distribution, and telephone/PBX, central files, and supplies.
  • Maintain SVPR calendar and Office of the SBPR calendars and schedules.
  • Organize day to day office and online activities to ensure the SVPR Office meets commitments by attending to leadership, faculty and staff needs.
  • Maintain all confidential information according to policies. Interact with the Academic Budget Office regarding SVPR office expenses
  • Maintain lines of communication as the main point of contact with the Office of the President, offices of the members of the President’s Cabinet, and members of the Office of the Provost.
  • Maintain the internal weekly Office of Research Newsletter for Funding, Events, Institutes and Centers, and Compliance.
  • Maintain official correspondence for the Office of the SVPR. Serve as primary point of contact for SVPR office email and assign incoming emails to appropriate members of the office.
  • Assist deans, program and center directors with SVPR Office related scheduling requests.
  • Organize SVPR-scheduled events, as assigned by the SVPR.
  • Assist other members of the SVPR Office in other duties as assigned by the SVPR.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Two or more (2 ) years of related experience including at least 1 year of experience as an executive assistant or


project coordinator.

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Familiarity with a range of office equipment.
  • Requires a thorough working knowledge of computer applications including Google Workspace, MS


Office, Excel and PowerPoint (2 years)

  • Working knowledge of appropriate social network online tools to enhance national reputation of research at

three (3) months of hire.

  • Must have the ability to interact tactfully and skillfully with all levels of CUA employees as well as all levels


of business contacts outside the university.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proven ability to draft professional correspondence and reports.
  • Must have the ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • High emotional intelligence, discretion, and integrity in handling sensitive information.
  • Must be able to exercise the knowledge and judgment to maintain confidentiality.
