Each year, the Carroll Center for the Blind helps nearly 1,300 blind or visually impaired children, adults, and senior citizens gain the skills they need to live active and fulfilling lives. Our Newton campus houses our rehabilitation program, computer training classes, low vision store, and administrative offices. A large portion of our programs are services conducted in public schools, students’ homes, and their communities.
Who We Seek
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual for our Events Intern position at The Carroll Center for the Blind. In this role, you will learn firsthand what it is like working in a non-profit organization. Additionally, you will have the valuable opportunity to learn from experienced professionals on our Development team. Our Development team strongly values mentorship and education for all members on the team, including you! This internship will be offered for the spring semester.
As an Events Intern, you will support key planning and coordination tasks for the Walk for Independence event on May 30, 2026. Responsibilities include assisting with logistics and supplies, helping create event communications, conducting basic research, and maintaining planning documents. The intern will also support attendee and volunteer coordination, oversee event listings, assemble materials, assist with on-site setup and breakdown, and more!

Responsibilities
- Helping organize and maintain event supply inventory.
- Drafting promotional language for event announcements, invitations, and newsletters.
- Researching potential vendors, venues, and community partners.
- Updating and maintaining event spreadsheets, timelines, and checklists.
- Monitoring and updating event listings on websites and social media.
- Communicating with attendees to confirm details or answer questions.
- Coordinating volunteer schedules and assignments.
- Managing RSVPs and tracking attendance.
- Assembling event materials such as name tags, signage, and handouts.
- Assisting with event setup, breakdown, and on-site coordination.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient writing and communication skills.
- Willingness to ask questions and ability to take direction.
- Showing initiative and follow-through in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace.
