The Carpenter's Boat Shop is a nonprofit educational organization based on the coast of Maine. Since 1979, the Boat Shop has fostered personal growth through wooden boatbuilding, seamanship, shared community life, and service to others. The organization offers a nine-month, tuition-free apprenticeship and public-facing programs rooted in craftsmanship, learning, and community.
We are seeking a full-time Executive Director to lead the organization's people, programs, and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide organizational leadership and staff supervision
- Lead fundraising and donor development efforts
- Oversee budget, financial systems, and operational health
- Strengthen partnerships and public presence
Qualifications:
- Leadership experience in nonprofit, education, or mission-driven organizations
- Fundraising and organizational management experience
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Appreciation for woodworking, experiential learning, community life, and maritime traditions
Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, year-round position based in Pemaquid, Maine.
Salary is commensurate with experience. On-site housing, health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, and meals during the apprenticeship program are included. Total compensation is valued at up to $125,000.
