Position Summary
The role of the Global Payroll Staff Accountant is a payroll processing, reconciliation, review and analysis function within the Global Employment Tax (GET) and Global Payroll teams, with a focus on payroll compliance and delivery across the EMEA and Asia regions. The country payrolls are completed with the help of external payroll service providers. The role requires liaison with the external payroll service providers in respect of the preparation, processing review and verification of the monthly payroll cycles. This includes payroll tax filings, payments and reconciliation across EMEA and Asia, with a focus on accuracy and meeting strict deadlines. Role performs payroll functions in conjunction and support of Payroll Administrator, Payroll and GET Managers.
The position also includes the review of the necessary monthly / quarterly / annual reconciliations for the payroll related accounts.
This role will also and help support the Global Employment Tax, Global Payroll and Accounting matters related to the firm's global mobility, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and various employee compensation programs for Carlyle's employees and partners.
Role requires strong professional and communication skills, and experience dealing with highly confidential information.
Primary Responsibilities
60% of time
- Responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and efficient processing of specific international payrolls for the Asia and EMEA regions. The staff will work closely with regional based Payroll and Staff Accountants with support from the GET/Global Payroll teams. All related payroll tax filings, returns and payments across the region need to be submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
- Liaise effectively between the payroll function and the other contributing or stakeholder partners to global payroll (primarily HCM, Global Benefits, Global Employment Tax and Corporate Accounting).
- Assist in the new global payroll system implementation project. Assist with analysis and rollout of efficiencies in structure and time for current and future payroll functions.
- Coordinate workload with Asia, EMEA and US Payroll Coordinators to respond timely and appropriately to employee, partner and stakeholder inquiries.
- Responsible for new hire Asia and EMEA employee training orientation with respect to payroll processing, timesheet and travel mobility information.
- Responsible for compiling and reviewing the payroll reconciliations for the full-company reporting.
- Responsible for creation and review of multiple audit reports to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Monitor and respond to employees' inquiries in the payroll inboxes, including a timely response to employee requests for information or inquiries.
- Partnership with Asia and EMEA accounting teams with respect to reconciliation of respective payroll general ledger.
40% of time
- Monitor and respond to employees' inquiries in the global mobility inbox. These questions pertain to employee travel policies, specific questions pertaining to distinct employee travel and travel tracker system.
- Assist with documenting all payroll processes and maintaining documentation for business continuity.
- Preparation, review and reconciliation of post payroll reports for all applicable countries.
- Provide support to the Payroll Managers and Payroll Administrators on all aspects pertaining to global payroll.
- Assist Global Employment Tax team with Global RSU vesting process quarterly.
- Assist Global Employment Tax and global payroll teams in any other requests such as individual and corporate tax audits.
Requirements
Education & Certificates
- Bachelor's degree, required
- Concentration in Accounting, Business, Finance, Human Resources or other business-related degree, strongly preferred
Professional Experience
- 2-3 years of relevant Global Payroll, Accounting, Tax or Global Mobility experience required
- Experience processing payroll in Workday preferred
- Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (including Outlook, Excel, and Word)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with strong follow-through skills
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
- Flexibility to juggle moderate degree of multiple and changing priorities
- Resourcefulness (especially online) in executing projects

Benefits/Compensation
The compensation range for this role is specific to Washington, DC and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $75,000 to $85,000.
In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
