What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate VP position at The Carlyle Group?
This is an in-house compliance position within Carlyle’s Global Legal & Compliance department. Primarily, the Associate Vice President will help lead Carlyle’s Environmental, Social and Governance ("ESG") reporting (including SFDR and EU Taxonomy) efforts from a regulatory, legal and compliance perspective. He or she also may assume broader responsibilities within the Compliance department, as appropriate.
Broadly, the Associate Vice President will help manage and coordinate various compliance-related activities in connection with ESG regulation and reporting for Carlyle’ public company and private funds.

Among other things, the role involves:
- Being a subject matter expert regarding the various regulatory aspects of European and U.S. ESG regulation.
- Providing counsel and oversight with respect to the compliance program for European and U.S. ESG reporting, including SFDR, Principal Adverse Impact indicators and EU Taxonomy by liaising with relevant internal stakeholders and service providers supporting such processes.
- Assisting with the drafting and review of SFDR-related materials and other disclosures for funds and products across the Carlyle platform.
- Acting as the point person and primary resource of SFDR, TCFD, Principal Adverse Impact indicators and EU Taxonomy and providing advice to various business teams across the firm.
- Responding to investor and prospective investor due diligence and ongoing reporting questions regarding SFDR, EU Taxonomy and other related European and U.S. ESG reporting questions
- Overseeing external service providers with regard to SFDR and EU Taxonomy compliance.
- Leading SFDR and related training initiatives for Carlyle’s deal teams, global investor relations and fund management personnel.
- Monitor ESG regulatory changes and developments in the EU, the U.S. and globally.
Particular expertise with respect to the various subject matters listed above is a positive, however the applicant should have a desire to learn, an ability to grasp complex and overlapping concepts and interest in ESG and sustainability. The applicant should also have excellent time-management and prioritization skills, as this is a fast-paced role supporting a number of business teams.
