We are seeking a Part-Time Music Therapist to provide supportive and therapeutic music interventions to hospice patients in Reading, PA, and surrounding areas. This role is ideal for a creative, empathetic professional who values autonomy, flexibility, and meaningful one-on-one care in home and facility settings.
What You’ll Do
- Complete music therapy assessments for referred hospice patients
- Develop individualized music therapy plans of care
- Provide therapeutic interventions to support comfort, emotional expression, connection, and legacy work
- Engage patients and families through live music, listening, improvisation, songwriting, and reminiscence
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support patient goals
- Participate in grief support activities, memorial services, and legacy projects
- Provide education to families, caregivers, and staff on music therapy
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation (within 48 hours)
- Attend IDT meetings and contribute to care planning

- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Music Therapy (AMTA-approved program)
- MT-BC (Board-Certified Music Therapist) credential
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Hospice, palliative, geriatric, or behavioral health experience preferred
- Warm, compassionate presence and strong communication skills
- Commitment to honoring patients with dignity, comfort, and individualized care
Qualifications
- Help optimize the capital structure and support strategic initiatives.
- Maintains the agency's mission, philosophy, and core values.
- Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures regarding operations/processes, including but not limited to those regarding patient care, patient complaints, incidents, safety, and emergency management.
- Always maintains patient confidentiality, including all HIPAA regulations.
- Licensed or registered in the State of PA.
- Must pass a criminal background check & MVR check.
- Completed health statements acknowledging the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Valid state drivers license.
- Proof of current automobile insurance.
- Current CPR card; On-line CPR certification accepted; Hands-on CPR certification preferred.
- TB testing per agency policy; (1 or 2-step TB skin test within 12 months of hire & annual TB symptom screening thereafter).
- Hospice and Palliatve Care certified Music Therapist preferred.
