What are the responsibilities and job description for the NC Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist position at The Care Collective?
NC Licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist (LMBT)
The Care Collective | Boone, NC
The Care Collective is looking for a North Carolina Licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist to join our massage team.
We are looking specifically for someone who wants massage to be a meaningful part of their career and is interested in maintaining a consistent schedule of approximately 26–28 massage hours per week. We are open to beginning closer to 22 massage hours per week and building from there.
The Care Collective is a locally owned wellness space in Boone built around personalized care. Our massage program is not one-size-fits-all. Our team brings together therapists with different backgrounds, specialties, pressure preferences, techniques, and approaches to bodywork, allowing clients to find the kind of care that works best for their body.
We want our therapists to bring that individuality to their work too.
A Place to Build a Career in Massage
Massage therapy is skilled work, and we believe it should be possible to build a stable, sustainable career doing it.
Our therapists are supported by an established business, a strong front desk team, consistent marketing, online booking, client communication, linens, supplies, and the systems needed to keep a busy massage practice running.
That allows our LMBTs to spend more of their energy doing what they are actually trained to do: providing excellent massage and bodywork.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, values professionalism, is reliable and consistent, and wants to continue developing as a massage therapist.
Experienced therapists are encouraged to apply, and newer therapists are welcome too. We care about experience, but we also care about skill, professionalism, curiosity, reliability, and someone's willingness to continue learning.
Your Massage Style Matters Here
The Care Collective offers a broad range of massage modalities and approaches to care.
Our therapists are not expected to provide identical sessions or follow a standardized massage routine. We want you to develop your strengths, use the modalities you know well, and continue expanding the kind of work you are excited to provide.
Our team currently offers therapeutic work including deep tissue, myofascial techniques, prenatal massage, stretching and mobility work, hot stones, cupping, restorative bodywork, side-lying massage, nervous-system-focused care, and other specialized approaches.
Every session begins with listening to the person in front of you and shaping the work around what their body needs that day.
Schedule
We are currently looking for someone who would like to build a substantial and consistent part-time massage schedule.
Our goal is approximately 26–28 massage hours per week. We are comfortable beginning around 22 massage hours per week and growing from there.
Our massage shifts are intentionally structured to be manageable and sustainable. Most weekday shifts are approximately 5.25 hours, while Saturday and Sunday shifts are approximately 6.25 hours.
We are particularly interested in someone who can maintain consistent five-shift-per-week availability.
Because we are hiring for a meaningful weekly caseload, dependable availability and consistency are important to us.
Our therapists also have dedicated paid turnover time between appointments, so massage hours are not the same as total hours worked.
Compensation
Starting massage compensation is based on professional experience.
After six months, therapists have the opportunity to transition into our performance-based compensation structure, which recognizes client retention and growth.
Our therapists are also compensated for required working time outside of hands-on massage.
This includes:
- Paid turnover and cleaning time between appointments
- Paid staff meetings
- Paid required training
- Guaranteed hourly compensation for administrative or non-massage working time
- Tips in addition to massage compensation
Paid Time Off
Our PTO program begins after six months of consistent five-shift-per-week availability.
We designed the benefit around therapists who are maintaining a regular, substantial schedule with the team and have demonstrated consistency over time.
Education Is Part of Our Culture
The Care Collective is an NCBTMB Approved Continuing Education Provider (#1001925).
Education is not an occasional perk here. It is part of how we operate.
Our massage team participates in ongoing training throughout the year, including hands-on education, professional development, communication and ethics training, exposure to different modalities, and opportunities to learn from both our own therapists and outside educators.
Qualifying internal trainings provide CE credit, and therapists are compensated for required training time.
We want our team to keep becoming better therapists—not simply collect enough hours to renew a license.
