Job Description
The Lab Assistant assists the medical technologist with specimen processing, ordering, bone marrow biopsies, phone calls along with assisting the phlebotomist with phlebotomy and finger stick procedures.

Job Description
The Lab Assistant assists the medical technologist with specimen processing, ordering, bone marrow biopsies, phone calls along with assisting the phlebotomist with phlebotomy and finger stick procedures.
Education
Desired/Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years related work experience including phlebotomy
- Responsible for overseeing the daily Lab Visit list, completing the collection record, printing labels, scanning in specimens and prioritizing patient blood draws.
- Responsible for answering the lab phone and assisting callers with their questions and requests.
- Responsible for loading and unloading the centrifuge along with organizing the specimens for in-house and send out testing.
- Responsible for loading specimens onto the appropriate instruments to initiate test analysis.
- Responsible for completing the required paperwork for blood product transfusions.
- Responsible for providing assistance to the providers during bone marrow biopsies.
- Responsible for providing phlebotomy duties as needed.
- Maintain inventory for phlebotomy stations and complete supply order forms.
- Able to assist the medical technologist with a variety of tasks including but not limited to specimen processing, authorizations, phone triage and blood product distribution.
- All other duties as assigned.
