REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School graduate or equivalent.
2. Must have knowledge of medical terminology; typing skills, and knowledge of office practices and procedures.
3. Must be able to work systematically, show initiative and follow through on procedures without continuous supervision or guidance.
4. Must be able to follow established procedures and to suggest changes for smoother operation when appropriate.
5. Good physical and mental health.
REPORTING: The Medical Records Assistant reports to the Medical Records Director.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Process mail/filing daily’ including copying Telephone Orders’ and mail-outs.
2. Answer calls related to Medical Records.
3. Assigned room checks and assistance as needed.
4. Telephone Order Audits.
5. Medication Audits.
6. Weekly Summary Audits.
7. Treatment Audits.
8. Certified Nursing Assistant Audit, including any coinciding logs.
9. Admission Audits.
10. Physician Visits, follow-up phone calls as needed including documentation in the patient’s record.
11. General Update Logs monthly and as needed.
12. Process Discharge Charts.
13. Make up admission charts as needed.
14. Print Reports/Input Physician Orders as needed.
15. Keep the nurses stations stocked with forms, making copies as needed.
16. Assist nursing/MD’s/Staff with follow-ups as needed.
17. Copy Patient’s Records as requested.
18. Qualitative Audits as needed.
19. Cover for Receptionist as needed.
20. Other duties requested by the Medical Records Director and/or Administrator.
